Be calm! Be mindful! (S1)

Stress in the workplace is a given, but there are scientifically proven ways to reduce stress and tension. With the possibility of even more change and stress looming, there is no better time to apply them. Mindfulness is one proven way that reduces stress and increases focus, health and concentration.

So what is mindfulness and how does it work?

This speech will not only explain the techniques involved but also give you the opportunity to sample two mindfulness exercises. You'll discover exactly how to use them in your everyday life and can judge the effects for yourself.

You will also have the opportunity to hear other ideas about handling stress and to gain the lastest results from the scientific research into the benefits of practising mindfulness. And it will all be delivered with a refreshing sense of humour.

You'll have your questions answered by an experienced mindfulness meditation practitioner, who will also tell you of the time she fell asleep in front of her teacher and off her chair.

Mindfulness takes practice - best to start now!

Rachel Green, is one of Australia's most dynamic, down-to-earth and popular expert speakers. In 2010 she was awarded the highest level of international accreditation in the professional speaking profession: Certified Speaking Professional (CSP); and in 2011 and 2012 was nominated for the Telstra Business Woman of the year award.

She has spoken to large conference audiences and small meetings; delivered motivational speeches and technical ones; lectured in universities and spoken in art centres; and been practising mindfulness meditation since 1987.

She has been on several weekend meditation retreats and a nine day silent one; and been taught meditation by some of the world's leading meditation teachers.

She is the author of the very popular 2 CD set: "Happy not hassled: Easy meditations to manage your emotions and find contentment", and has written the article, "Meditation made easy: The seven secrets to overcoming difficulties in meditation - for those people who think they can't do it!".

She is the voluntary co-ordinator of a free weekly meditation class at Armadale hospital, and teaches a four week beginner's course in meditation there each year.

Meditation has changed her life. She went initially because she was highly stressed, has used it to cure panic attacks, and now wants to meditate each day because she feels so good!

Let her help your delegates ease away the day's tensions.
